>Ongezellig is a failed pilot depicting the inert nature of sanitized living and the vapid age of post industrial, post internet revolution first world.
>Maya represents the post modernist commoner. The husk of what man used to be, the consumerist media addicted gooner living only to satiate their most immediate desires with no pursuit of excellence or higher calling. This character has no spine and no will to shape the world or even mend their own inadequacy. When presented with adversity she folds, when presented with problems she flees, when presented with opportunities she backs out. She is only comfortable in her gooning attire engrossed in her decadent cartoons. She is bitter and jaded and in full conscious of her own predicament yet too prideful to allow people to assist her out of her vain lifestyle. There is nothing redeemable in her character, she is inept and without virtue and an ugly mirror to the world we've built.

She is insistent on helping Maya despite Maya's unwillingness to cooperate which only serves to push them away until external circumstances bring about a fragile, uneasy truce. Coco is also a subtle commentary on women being stupid.

She yearns for glory in a world that only offers hedonism and she lashes out at it with flavors of fanaticism, racial supremacist larp and histrionicism. She is the defacto poster girl of the show as she is the character the viewers are most likely to resonate with, the viewers who have rejected mass produced slop like the shitty digital circus or fundamental toilet-paper education in favor of slow burn, esoteric, more refined slop.

Everyone's condition is in some way related to their circumstances but people are still in charge of their lives, they still have the opportunity to act virtuously and rise above. it's not to hard to infer, that based on her behavior and lack of proper care for her AY DEE DEE, her parents are not giving her the attention she needs, obviously this is probably her fault, since she locks herself in her room all day, but if that's the case then what started this in the first place?
she was supposedly happy until her sisters came along, which is why i posture the theory that she has a lack of attention from her parents and that they are at least partially responsible for why she is the way she is.

maya does whatever she needs to, to preserve what she cares about, she doesn't want to fracture her relationship with her sisters, because they are all she has, even if they are somewhat responsible for the loss of valuable attention that could have been spent correcting her path in life, because obviously she cares about them.
what opportunity has maya been given? you need actual willpower to act virtously and rise above, she doesn't have this, after all how could she? there is nothing to gain confidence from, and there is nothing scrutinizing her negative behavior.
