In what way do I exaggerate? Maya is a socially inept gooner and isn't shown any redeemable qualities. That's not exaggerating or being uncharitable, that's the plain interpretation of her character.

Lying is never necessary. Lying is a sin and God won't let anyone be tempted by that which they cannot resist. The only time lying is justified is when it's to prevent a greater evil. Not to say I've never lied or felt like I "need" to lie, lying is a common sin, but to say she has to pervert the truth for such trivial and banal matters is ridiculous. It's not necessary for her to lie, it's easy. And doing good things (like telling the truth) is often hard.
