Not really. It's also not true. He spent 7 or 8 years working on Ongezellig and achieved almost none of his goals outside of bringing the animation to fruition. He sat the project down and for the first time in years he felt what it's like to live without the burden, and decided he preferred it. Anyone who has experience great difficulty in getting something off the ground, like a business or a great art project, knows how that feels.
