Alright, almost a year after I started
What I have learnt
>many many words in Dutch are similar to the Latin ones
>the hardest sound to learn is "g"
>Duolingo is indeed a gay clithole and Busuu is 1488 times better, especially to advance quickly on more advanced topics
>Dutch is actually really easy once you understand certain grammatical rules, if you've just started to you might have a problem with the vocabulary and remembering some words
>The irregular verbs are a bitch
>You VVILL sometimes mix up the Belgian accent with the Dutch accent
Just overall a fun language to learn and a side activity that every Zaryan should try. Also once you get to the B1 level the delen will start to sound natural (no shit award)

Hey Zaryans.
I know we hate Duolingo, but I think I found a gemmy way to derive value out of it.
I've been doing lessons on it everyday and using it in synthesis with "Routledge Intensive Dutch" (You can find all material online).
I then opened a Chat GPT prompt and copy-pasted all the vocabulary I know and set strict parameters. I ask it to prompt me sentence in English to translate into Dutch because I want to practice my ability to create sentences from scratch, and one thing that I dislike about Duolingo is that it shows me the words so I don't actually know if I remember the word for something without first seeing the word.
If I make a grammatical mistake (which I usually do because I'm a DSL shitskin), it explains in depth, and if there is a concept I still don't understand, I can ask it to clarify further.
What do you guys think?
Busuu's community exercises are also a good way for learning how to create sentences, also Dutch folk there can correct mistakes you make while attempting those, and tell you how to sound more natural.
>it explains in depth, and if there is a concept I still don't understand, I can ask it to clarify further.
this is exactly how you are supposed to use it
I still prefer sticking to Busuu since it actually scales correctly, but this is nice if you really want to go the extra mile
do this, dutch is snca, especially to the dutch themselves
its better than google translate but not better than chatgpt which can actually pick up intonation and cultural nuance
DeepL has fallen off completely, Gemini 3 Pro is actually superior in making coherent sentences that sound natural and not super literal while being "technically correct".
Germans won't use German while talking to you. They will use English. Another useless language.
Yeah because English is the dominant language, while German isn't but it's not like Dutch which is spoken maybe by 5 million people
