I'd start with trying to get her some contemporary art. Media that express the emotions of real people who live lives similar to ours, and can touch us and show us that we are not alone in our conditions. This is what Ongezellig was for me.
I'd then try to talk with her regularly, engage with her ideas, introduce her to new ones. Get her thinking. I'd go on hikes or walks with her. Just make sure she has someone she can talk to and that she can grow from those conversations.
After that, you'd have to get her on a diet, regular exercise and secure her future, either by getting her into university (unlikely), finding a job for her (equally unlikely), or securing some other source of wealth. If you do not currently have crippling mental issues, your material conditions should come first, since you cannot alleviate mental problems while facing physical deprivations.
The hard part is really just coming into a position where you can do any of these. I've known a girl who was like Maya, and you really couldn't talk to her.
