Ongezellig

I've noticed that offsiters, whether it be sharty, 'cord or xitter, seem to often refer to zarty as a "dead site" or something along the lines of "almost dead, on the brink of death, no one uses it" even though the activity on zarty is the same as it's always been. what causes them to think like this?
