Either way it seems like another case of Off-site Project Disease, which ultimately leads to the death of the project due to uninterest from non-zaryan affiliated groups and the unwillingness of the creator to collaborate with the actual fans

nah, I think they just don't have the sheer autism we have to creating art for this long dead cartoon. Not saying spite couldn't be a factor for why these people are running away from their projects like its child support, but honestly the more likely candidate is they simply didn't have the time or energy to complete their personal project because they got way too ambitious, or as a dutchman would say, they put a bit too much hay on their fork.
