I myself was a mayacel back then so I already know a lot abt how Maya feels. If an animation of such were to be story boarded then the story would have to be as objective as possible to what Massa had envisioned. Or we could just make one abt Mymy cause she's the easiest to comprehend.

You know, I do kind of get why a continuation of Ongezeillig seems impossible, because Ongezellig is mostly designed to focus on Maya. Maya is kind of the only character in the pilot who gets any depth added to her character, the rest are just kind of shallow like Mymy who's entire shtick is being the insane crazy Dutch ultranationalist for comic relief and Coco is supposed to be an extrovert and by being an extrovert she is the exact opposite of our asocialite protagonist. Even more, excluding Vera, 90% of the other characters who aren't those three are just background characters who don't even talk at all and are just supposed to be "friends" who are able to socialize, unlike Maya. It does seem it little like Massa designed it that way and it's also why he never was able to come with another episode. If the intention of the pilot was just to focus on Maya as a character, than it makes more sense as just a short film, an entire series wouldn't explain Maya any better than the pilot already did.

Ngl I was thinking that the show would've went through the short stories of diff background characters while incorporating Maya. But now that I look at it, it DOES basically focus all of the time on Maya. If only massa designed it differently then we'd be seeing a lot more art of the other classmates and overall talk abt them.

In that sense, it makes Massa's actions regarding Ongezellig make so much more sense. He didn't try to expand Ongezellig to a wider audience and didn't take it to the next level in order to make it a show because in some way I feel he knew deep down that it couldn't be a show in the first place. It makes perfect sense, but at the same time it makes everything feel so much shittier. I just don't fucking get it if he knew somewhere at that back of his mind that Ongezellig was only made to be a "successful short film", and then constantly advertise it to be a pilot and promise to all of his fans for a full show out of it for years just to let them down. I just wish he had been honest about everything from the beginning. Just admit that he couldn't make Ongezellig ever be more than the 6 deels we got, and we could've all moved on from it so much easier.
