I remember a graph about how the IJsbergs got more views in less time than Ongezellig. I think what he forgot to factor in wasn't the speed of the views, but the total, since YouTube pays on the amount and not the speed. And Ongezellig is without a doubt, the most profitable thing he has done in terms of YouTube videos, doesn't matter if a video gets "more views in the same amount of time", especially if it gets stuck at that number of views for months.

This. I run a YouTube channel aswell, most of my newer videos gain far more views within the first couple of days, though plateau. On the flip, many of my older videos have steadily gained views overtime, accumulating to a more views in the long run.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Massa's analytics looked similiar to mine where older videos are the majority of his day-to-day views for both new and returning viewers. (Though at a much larger scale as he has x16 the audience)

2022-2017=5. That's how many years it took him to make Ongezellig as an animation. But if we will count all the official content of the series as a whole (music, illustrations, concept arts, etc), then yes, there will be around 7-8 years of the work.

the earliest file with a proper date in the 'evolution of ongezellig' folder says 2011, so he's been working on zellig for at least 13 years, probably much more since there's a lot of unmarked files.

I included those 6 more years in the "prehistory" but simply going off the stuff from the doc and the mega folder, most of the actual work on Ongezellig was done in these 7 years. Sure there's concepts from before but they're a bit all over the place
