do you have a better explanation for why Massa would have Coco specifically write about wanting to be very old? it's not relavant to anything else in the series. Massa stated that Coco was intended to be an antithesis to Maya in the September 2024 spoiler document, he also said that the inspiration for Maya's last "Schoppenboer" came from the Afrikaans word for "Magere Hein", who is a Dutch folklore character which is the personification of death. Coco's choice of an immortal jellyfish as her favorite animal also illustrates her value for life, and with her being the antithesis to Maya, it can be assumed that Maya values death.
other things written on their introductory project also illustrate how Coco is the opposite of Maya.
>Maya is good at using the computer, Coco is bad at using the computer.
>Maya constantly wastes time, Coco doesn't like wasting time.

Coco wants to be very old and picks the immortal jellyfish because of her PTSD from the totally-not-niggers caused death of her parents and sister. When she’s completing the project, 8 year old Coco knows how much her family’s deaths hurt her and doesn’t want her new family to ever feel that way. It’s the same reason she always feels compelled to help and support her sisters. That doesn’t necessarily mean Maya hates life or wants to die.

Is everyone in this thread fucking retarded? Maya canonically doesn't cut herself frequently, she very clearly talks about this in the mayamail diary entry written on january 28th.
>the fact that i don't have to go outside after school is the only thing that keeps me from cutting or something.
>as long as they leave me alone i have no reason to cut. anyways i never really understood self-harmers, i tried it once after reading about it but it mostly hurt. maybe i'm just not miserable enough

it does because Coco is an antithesis to Maya

No it doesn’t. Coco doesn’t pick the jellyfish because she loves life so much, a jellyfish doesn’t do very much “living”, it’s because she is scared of death. We don’t know too much about Maya’s opinion on death, other than brief suicidal ideation in the bathroom. It doesn’t seem like Maya “values death” very much beyond recognizing its utility as a potential end to her problems. Maya’s wish is not to die, it’s to be alone, and deeper down she wishes she didn’t wish to be alone, to be someone who actually wants to be social. She doesn’t hate life itself.
The antithesis comes from the fact that Maya takes life for granted and wastes her time, and Coco is scared of life’s fleeting and fragile nature, so she feels compelled to use her time in a worthwhile way. That doesn’t mean every single one of their aspects are opposites, in fact they are similar in that their unhealthy view of how to spend time negatively affects their mental state. Maya is obvious in this regard, but Coco lives under constant stress to not “waste time” which results in her feeling huge pressure, and makes her liable to snap sometimes, like holding her sister out of a window. If they were simply opposites, Coco would’ve written dog as her answer.

Retard did I say what happened was okay? Coco absolutely threatened Maya with it, but she was not actually defenestrated. You have to be thrown from a window for it to be defenestration, not held out of one.
