And behold, Maya, an angel of Hashem, descended from the heavens, clothed in heavenly light. And she said unto me, “Fear not, for thou shalt never walk alone.”
“For as Hashem gave manna unto Israel in the wilderness, brought water from the rock, and guided His people by fire through the night, so shall He provide for thee. Though thy path lead through wilderness and darkness, He shall not forsake thee.”
Then Maya broke bread and placed it into my hands, saying, “Hashem hath sent me as bread upon thy journey: to nourish thy hope when despair makes thee empty, and to remind thee always of Him who provides.”
“For Hashem remembers the forgotten, strengthens the weary, and hears the lonely. When thou canst not see Him, He is yet near.”
And the angel Maya embraced me, saying, “When thou believest thyself abandoned, remember that I walk beside thee by the will of Hashem. Rise, eat, and continue onward.”
Then she lifted her eyes toward heaven:
“Baruch Hashem, who provides our bread, guards our path, and leaves no soul alone.”
And her light remained with me.
