Do you think the Schoppenboers live in the suburbs or in the city center and what kind of house do you think it is?
The only time we see the outside of the house is in sweet 16 and it’s clearly supposed to resemble an urban canal house. This isn’t canon exactly but it’s the most we have to go on for the exterior. We know the house has to have at least two floors, and has a garden behind the dining table.
I’ve been on funda looking at different types of Dutch houses and I think the ones they label geschakelde woning, the semi detached houses connected by garages, feel like the best fit to me because it can still kind of look like a canal house, has the space between the houses we see in the panel, and is suburban which to me makes more sense for them than urban. But I think a suburban row house could also work.
I don’t know much about Dutch housing so maybe I’m very wrong, what do you picture their house to be?

2 story row houses like picrels are most of what I’ve seen but to me it seems wrong for them as opposed to the taller or more detached ones.

You see buildings like that in the historic city centres of most towns. I've walked past houses that look just like the Schoppenboer's in towns all over the country. It doesn't even have to be a big city, some quiet towns have them too.

so you think the panel from sweet 16 is accurate and they do live in a historic house in a city center?
Zaryan No.139919
>>139917
Yes, but with the detail of the city not being a modern large city, many old cities can have the modern population and feel of a town while having history which made it a significant city in the past. That is where I think they are.

i also saw buildings like that in Utrecth, although we werent exactly near the city center on the contrary it looked more like the wilderness out there

There are similar styled buildings in less urbanised areas, they are usually wider, more spacious, the slender type of house we see in the comic panel is typical of a town.
