I look forward to seeing you develop.

because that's the usual way to do things, not everyone is that seasoned as to skip everything and go directly to the last steps like some sort of drawGOD

For a start you could try plain colors and then adding shadows by layering a 50% opacity layer with the multiply feature (or however it's called on the software you're using). It won't look incredible but it's something

Do I have some art requests for you
There's an old illustration idea chart and one of them is Roos and Stan skating on the ice, it should be simple enough to draw especially with the reference

Don't show anything to us, just try try try and again try and make as many arts for practice as you can and the progress will be seen

Late to this, but the trick is to sketch sketch sketch. The confident, long lines will come eventually. Instead of trying to draw long lines, try making similar shapes but with short strokes. Try not to drag your stylus across the canvas without releasing it for longer than a second. It's gonna look like shit, but it will teach you familiarity with the pencil. Eventually you will also learn to master the confident, longer strokes. Another tip would be to keep tracing and tracing and tracing over your own layers until it looks good. Keep practicing, you'll get there.

i'm not really into it right now. i took a 3 day break because i got so burnt out from trying to do the stan x roos ice skating thing that i just haven't felt like doing anymore art. i did actually at one point enjoy making this until i realized it looked like shit and since i have no motivation i didn't redo it. i hope i can will myself to practice more but god art slumps are terrible and i know that the worse is still to come

It's okay to take a break sometimes Zaryan. It looks good. Don't become the next Massa before your artistic journey has even begun.

by the way, you should still focus on form and composition because even if the coloring is great, that doesn't mask poor form.

no need to complicate shit especially when you're just starting out. just draw and focus on the fundamentals

Made some soulless traced slop for the Stan and Roos ice skating idea because I was bored or whatever
>>103322
it looks cute, tracing doesn't have to be le bad, in fact it can be beneficial to get your arm and hand used to the motions of drawing, but the idea is to graduate from tracing other images to tracing them from your mind onto the canvas.

It’s a Dutch word that doesn’t translate easily, think sociable/cozy/friendly. It’s the opposite of ongezellig, which is what maya is

ok that makes sense honestly. i can't get over people who call ongezellig unsocialable even when there isn't a direct translation to english

The concept of "being ongezellig" is mostly about being the only one not going along or not being as engaged as the rest within the context of social plans or situations. When someone suggests "let's go do x thing" and one person goes "I don't think I'll go" they will be told "oh come on, don't be so ongezellig". "The whole family will be there, don't be ongezellig and join us". Being on your phone in company is also "ongezellig". So is not saying much or don't looking dramatically happy while the rest is chatting/doing whatever the occasion is. Being gezellig, so the opposite of ongezellig, means being present, actively involved, part of the group and overall sociable. So sociable works as a translation, but the Dutch culture of "not allowing people to do their own thing or being introverted within a group" is kind of an extra layer to that expression. That's why Maya is ongezellig for not joining Coco and Mymy with their board game, for sitting alone during breaks while the rest is in groups, for running when Coco wants to "gezellig"-ly do something together etc.

i need help with understanding this.
i always wondered this but when i look at the hairline it seems like their foreheads are extremely long. is this just for making their hair fit on their face better or is it some art style thing because i gotta know if i need to add this when drawing

It's not just only forehead. It's also thickness and volume of the hair. And if you'll screenshot Coco with opened eyes her forehed won't look THAT big since her eyes are pretty high. Though, her face is intentionally higher and proportionally narrow to express her nodric germanic phenotype. This contrasts with Maya's wider face and Mymy's even wider one (asians have wider faces). So bear in mind their ethnic background while drawing their heads.
