what are the best free resources for learning Dutch? I refuse to use Duolingo since it sucks ass, but I really want to learn this language

Busuu isn't bad, but before you start, you want to memorize the various pronunciations used in Dutch, such as w being read as v, the double ee being read as an a, etc.

The only way to know when to use de of het is by learning it from experience, de is voor masculine and feminine words, het is voor neutral words. For plural you always use de.
