Hello, zaryans.
I think it's time to create another gemmy project, similar to the reanimation one. This time I suggest that we create a completely original short animation, with a simple story.
The point of this project is to exercise the process-making of an animation film. So that would be the making of:
1st a basic concept art
2nd a script
3rd a storyboard
4th an animatic (optional)
5th an animation
The film itself doesn't have to be perfect and the length would be something around 3-5 minutes. The cast should not be more then 3 people methinks...
What do you think guys?
I am sort of aware of that. I just wish to see how many people would be interested in working on a short animation in general.
Somebody could also suggest potential plots of the story. I will try to cook something up myself. A basic short script.

What's about animating a random fanfic (not a yuri coal, you know, but an interesting zem, such as these https://soyzellig.party/zellig/res/44776.html#q44776)? It would make this project easier to produce.

Unless there are any female (LMAO) Zaryans willing to participate to VA, I think we're kinda shit out of luck here.

AI voices have long since outgrown their novelty and have yet to capture actual expressiveness from real voice acting. Fun for song covers but not so great for actual dialog between characters (also the robotic hiss sucks on any model).
One solution would just be to use text on screen like a comic, yeah it'd be lame as hell but still better than hearing a bunch of dudes gender affirming xeir voices for cartoon girls.

I'm thinking editing one of the emails where Maya plans on injuring herself to not go to Coco's party, but instead of not injuring herself at the last minute, she turns and trips on one of her shoe laces and ends up falling down the stairs and injures herself anyways. It wouldn't be much, but still very comical (if you read the emails you'd know what I mean).

A while back there were ideas laid out for the monthly illustrations for paypigs to vote and choose from on what zellig characters should do. These aren't super detailed but could provide for some brainstorming ideas on what fun could be have (like Coco baking some snacks for Maya and hijinks ensue with mymy involved).

Can't think of much other than something silly like Mymy and Kiki getting into a Soyduel or Chud forming a (platonic) relationship with Mymy when he is first annoyed by her but eventually comes around to enjoying her company for things like nationality and history of the Dutch.

Just as they are about to shoot each other, time slows down and the showdown turns into a conversation about their regrets in life.
Although the concept could be modified a bit, it could look cool

Basically a loner who communicates with randoms through email. The base is already there, we just have to modify it a bit.

It would still be needed to be modified + it needs to be short.

Zoot found out about the pinnacle of German humour and decided to use it as a plot point

The story will be about a school orchestra, Coco is being very successful and popular, Maya sucks so she gets a triangle and she's sad about it and Mymy does and says some funny things(maybe about Bermuda Triangle cuz Maya got a triangle or something)in the background. At the end Maya could skip the concert if we want a sad ending or she could perform as trianglist if we want a good(?) ending.
It's not 1:1 but there's an episode where Coco invites Maya to play the triangle in her band
I like the Mayamail idea. Currently busy with my YouTube channel and college, but I’ll try to pitch in as much as I can.
I could probably contribute to concept art or storyboards, possibly an animatic but I'm not very confident in my animation skills

I see that the mayamail concept is the most popular one.
I shall try to do very basic concept art and a basic story next week.
I am currently busy with uni and the comic, so I apologies if I dont post here next week.
Also I saw a few people saying that they lack the skills. This project is exactly to try and learn animation through practise. (You) can always ask for help and anyone can share useful material on the topic. We are NOT striving for perfection.
Think of this project as a gateway to a new craftsmanship.

Also I think the Mayamail idea would work great as a comic. I’m at work, so I don’t have my personal computer. But I’ll send proof of concept if also interested in that.

Probably, i was also thinking the same. But the thread is about animation.
We could also try to do a comic project thread, if the animation turns out to be too unrealistic. Again, we need to shape the concept a bit more to see.
If we're going with this, then I'll go ahead and throw out my idea here.
If we can't get any VAs, then we could have the Maya mails/diary entries read out like a textbox describing what's been going on with her while the events described happen on-screen.
Pic as an example.
I really like this idea actually. Maybe we could get a Zaryan to read them and use AI voiceover?

I have a feeling that there is a presumption that we are going to do a 1:1 recreation of the mayamails in an animation format. This will be mayamail INSPIRIED. The characters will be original, so we don't have to concern ourselves with finding a female VA (if we do, then that would open up some options, when it comes to how the story is told) or using AI. I could volunteer to VA

I was sort of thinking the same. Although we would have time periods where we would see the main character in his/her room, contemplating about the stories.

there are many ways. we would need music, (concept) art, voice acting, animation (could be only doing time charts and key poses or doing entire animation sets), double checking and giving ideas for the script ect. Content could be dropped either here or through mail. If anyone wants to namefag while droping material for the animation, send me a mail with your IP (to check your post history), a preferred username and password.
If you don't know any of this stuff, don't feel afraid to contribute. You can ask questions about how to do this and that. This is an armature project.

why would we not animate the Schoppenboers? I don't see what's wrong with my AI idea for VAs, and even then is it really that hard to find a female VA willing to voice them?

I don't want to animate the girls, because:
1st i want something that isnt zellig. i dont see a problem with doing something that isnt dutch anime girls, it would still be sovlful (since it would still be an amateurish project made by a bunch of hecking chuds).
2nd it would be easier when it comes to VA (AI isn't that bad, but it would be better to use real voice actors)
3rd if the animation is nice, people can use it in their portfolios without it being too autistic.

The goal of the site has changed. Zellig is not the focus. Ongezellig is a finished project. It has been for a good while.

Also Zarty =/= Zellig anymore. If that was the case, the site woudnt even exist after September. The goal of the Zarty now is OC making, discussing OC and meeting similarly minded people. Any remnants of zellig are for cultural background and transitional purposes.
For the people who are unhappy, just try to do something that isnt lig for once. It won't hurt.
Or idk do something else. Again, nobody is forcing you to participate.
Phrase that zellig is not a focus of this site is repeated again and again but in practise it is and janny decision that it isnt, that zoot tries to force since Zoot New Order wont change this

The problem is that the Maya mails are fundamentally about Maya's experience, not having Maya and the zellig crew beats the purpose of using the Maya mails as source material.
I am completely fine with non zellig animations projects, and if it is interesting enough I might join in. However taking zellig source material and using it for an animation that is not zellig doesn't make much sence to me.

In Practise, the ZNO is an attempt, since a lot of people wanted the site to continue. If the site is to continue, then i dont want the focus to be lig (or yet another general use IB). I dont care if this attempt doesn't succeed (eventho for now I am happy with the slow progress and that people have started to use /oc/ more).

Being inspired doesn't mean that they have to be 1:1, we have the basic concept of (a depressed antisocial loner) telling his stories to strangers through mail (or perhaps somebody else reads these stories). Again, I will try to make something out of it. If it doesn't work, it doesn't. There's a lot of trial and error when making media

People come here for the zellig, even oc is used for zellig in 95% cases
the problem is that this site is called soyzellig.party, and very few people (if any) are coming here for non-Zellig content, and I don't see why that's a bad thing, this is basically the only refuge for Zaryans to enjoy Zellig without resorting to shitcord or something like that, having NAZ stuff here is perfectly fine but you can't take away from the fact that Zellig is and always will be a very important part of the Zarty and people come here primarily for that

Hide this thread or leave the site, if your clitties have leaked that hard just by the thought of somebody drawing non-lig stuff. Anyone else who wants to participate in this project, you are more then welcome to do so.
Any post that continues this "debate" will be deleted for derailing the main topic. If you still want to cry about the site focusing a bit more on NAZ and OC stuff, there's /q/

Real life problems such as uni and wedding preparations. I did not have much of an opportunity to work on the comic as well (somewhat, I've been experimenting with real ink and dip pen. I am trying to learn more about hatching). I think I will start work on it this week.

Most people migrated to the "pure" mayamail thread, or atleast that's what i got from the constant complaints. I just wanted to make an animation and practise script writing, story board making, animation and VFX. That animation I would use as a part of my portfolio (and the other potential participants could have done the same if they wished to). I think that I would get less of a headache if I work alone for now.
I am mostly done with the script. I've made an english version and will do a bulgarian one. There will be only one VA (for the MC girl) and it will be in bulgarian with english subs (for the sovl o algo). I have mainly taken inspiration from only a few of the mails, since If It was based on all of them, I would have to make multiple episodes (which is not the point).
If i think that the project will need more people, I will say it.
