Zoot please add a DSL board because it would be really cool if we all learned Dutch

We have an ESL board already (/brabant/), so obviously the DSL counterpart should be named /drenthe/

how about just an ongoing /dsl/ general on brabant? This site is way too dead for another niche board.

but a board is better than just a thread, if there's just one thread then it'll get buried like the one you just sent, and with a whole board it'll encourage people to learn the language of zoiets

relevant threads get picked up when interest returns. Look at the ppf thread for example, it has had multiple months long breaks and the interest in it returns when there is something to do. If people really want to learn Dutch, the thread will gain interest again.

He does have a point. I am Dutch and everything can be facilitated in English everyone knows it very well. All universities courses are mostly given in English as well.
That being said, I like the Dutch language especially older Dutch language norms. It has a certain atmosphere to it that English doesn't have.

English is the standard for scientific research globally, internationalism and integration in English dominated business of many international companies and relations. Although I don't mind since my English is good

I don't see how any of this justifies having lectures in English. Maybe laziness of professors does.

Also many international students, even without them English would still be used. It is just more convenient to learn stuff using the international standard terms and literature that are in English. Also, as a side point, Dutch, as a language, is a bit tricky when writing academically, English is much better suited for that.

Is Duolingo and Spotify Podcasts good way of learning Dutch or am I just wasting my time?
