You think I will stop caring when it gets hard, that I would leave her. I will try, with all that I have, to be the one in her life, a person who does not disappear when things get rough.

But to love someone, you have to understand something important: caring for her means listening, staying present, and making sure she knows she matters. I have the time, and I have the heart for that. I shall remind her she matters, even when she doesn't believe it herself.

But I can't force her to see herself the way I see her in moments of clarity. I can't make her accept kindness, or suddenly understand that she deserves love. That is something she has to come to on her own.
