My first impression by the comic I've got in 2023 was completely opposite to your description. I honestly remember that to be a very deep and touching moment, and its quick appearance in the comic was for good, it began abruptly and hit sharply, that was surely a good decision imho. Although I was younger back then, could have just been more susceptive.
