The historical basis for Kiki here is that her ensign uniform is the non-tropical version of the Marine Nationale. Mymy, on the other hand, is a mish-mash of history and my own artistic liberties. The bicycle is a homage to the Japanese bicycle infantry that drove through Saigon by the close of 1941 in preparation for the invasion of Malaya, and the Japanese did wear the armband for diplomatic visits, but doubtly for exchanges such as these. I just want my compositions to be historically accurate of zoiets
