For Coco missing out on things is painful because she misses her time with her family and never wants to waste time again with her new family and friends. She thinks all Maya needs is some nudging in the right direction to appreciate family and make friends. But these efforts are misread by Maya as Coco belittling her and unfortunately will just push them further apart until they make more of an effort to understand each other’s problems.
