Uh I know it would be ad hominem but as a cocochad I must admit that when you first watch the series you don't realize that Maya is not white, she looks like an ordinary black-haired white girl and is perceived as an ordinary belgian. Also she's canonically brown-haired tho. This once made me think that she was really white, albeit then I discovered that she was of Indonesian ancestry, but back then we oldtroons used to believe Maya was a half-breed dutch indo. I don't really know why am I typing this, I was just nostalgiabaited of zoites.
