It's temporary. The natural selection continues as long as there are differences in reproductive success between people, which there are. Conservative have more children on average, for instance, and fertility is heritable.

Can't say anything on how fast that works, but not all people are equally conformists and if conformism will continue to lead to bad outcomes, the greater fraction of population will become nonconformist.

The analogy of gluttony works best here. Some people would happily benefit from interactions with others as long as it wouldn't require any effort on their part. When it does require effort, they choose social media and staying at home. It's like fat people who would prefer to be fit, but when it comes to eating, the food is just too delicious to resign from it. No one force-feeds them, their gluttony is their own free choice.
