Problem with Maya doing it is that Coco observes her and keeps on trying to spend time with her, since they bike to school instead of driving there in a car Maya wouldn't have the chance to hide her weapon in car's trunk. If Coco felt that Maya acts suspicious she would probably investigate it, if she finds her gun then it's over, Coco would beat Maya up and take away her weapon to hide it or destroy it somewhere as she wouldn't want rumours spreading about her sister being Hitler's top schoolholocauster as it would also hurt her reputation
