There was enormous leakage at that and Bluesky was extremely astroturfed for some time to serve as an alternative but it failed and is now known as a containment zone for mentally deranged leftists. Normalfags don't use is, having a Bluesky account now is a political declaration while having a Twitter account was just what people online did, like using Facebook earlier, it was the default. I'm not saying that X will save the world like the other guy does, but Musk buying it was purely beneficial with zero downsides, even if he simply deleted it immediately after the purchase it would be better than doing nothing.
