let’s imagine a completely hypothetical scenario. you’re a 'za shop owner. you make great 'za. people in the area love your 'za. one day, a printer shop opens next door. the printer guy isn’t taking your 'za customers. he’s not even in the food business. he respects your 'za, he even orders a few slices sometimes. he’s a friendly neighbor. you both live in the same small town, under the same roof, and you really don’t have anyone else supporting you out there. the rest of the town barely likes either of you, some tolerate you, some hate you outright. but the printer guy? he actually supports you. yet, for some reason, you decide you want him gone. he didn’t do anything to you. you know he’s not hurting your sales. you know he likes you. but you snap. so you start rumors

>ohhh that stupid printer guy? fucking degenerate, we should all hate him or something o algo

at first, a few other shop owners become wary of him. but you see that THIS IS NOT ENOUGHHHHH. so you decide to do a falseflag operation. you dress up a few of your own employees as "printer shop workers" make them do something stupid, take photos, and spread them around claiming it was the printer guy all along. you think it worked. you watch some people point fingers and say

<see? ay caramba all printer guys are like this!

but deep down, you know. you know he never did anything to you. you know you sabotaged one of your only allies, someone who actually liked your pizza, and all for what?... eh just a stupid hypothetical anyway... i like to imagine stupid bullshit for no reason sometimes :D
