Ongezellig is a self reflective commentary about native’s attitudes towards immigrants. Now I see why it has such a following is that it echoes feelings of resentment and loneliness that is felt on a large scale which outlives it’s original notions of self hatred that is projected onto outsiders. It’s a good pilot, but there are lots of other unknown pilots that don’t receive a following. My theory as to why Ongezellig has such a dedicated following is thag it speaks to those with mental illness and isolation. All in all, Ongezellig is a good thing that cracks social stigmas and unrealized attitudes that are in the shadows.

Side tangent: if you’ve ever played linda cubed Ongezellig is kinda like it with nativism feelings concerning that neo kenyans are the japanese, beastians are ainu or other indigneous and green pharmacueticals is america, only ongezllig displays these relationships through literal ethinicites.
