Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to settle in a place that's already densely populated and to then proceed to marginalize said pre-existing, majority population? It's quite literally in the middle of Africa too, so no amount of walls would've helped them either. It was never going to end well for those settlers. They were lucky they weren't all raped and murdered like the Frenchmen in Haiti.
