I pity every honest european feeling American or Canadian pretty much for this reason. it's already hard enough to find a reason or a sense of community in Europe, and in nucountries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc. it becomes pretty easy for leftykikes to claim these countries were never white (which is pretty much a lie, especially SA which had NEVER had any native presence until the arrival of the Boers). They like to always claim here that Shitaly is a country of immigrants: that is wrong, it's a country of conquerors and conquered, by WHITE countries only. The biggest "immigration" was by the Normanns, which are far whiter than the average Italianoid, while the brown masses such as Moors, Saracens and Arabs were rightfully seen as invaders and NOT immigrants. And now they're trying to peddle literal nigger level coal skinned Africans as the nu-italians. At least 25% of people aged 16-20 was not born here, and ironically now there's more Italians outside of Italy (80 millions vs 55 millions). I can just say that you can only work on your little reality, come to terms with the fact that the European identity you could rely upon is not enough, and discover what it means to be American. Usually when someone is asked that question they just say

That is the worst thing to do because it only perpetuates the fact that Americans are not a culture but rather a mix of whatever arrives there.
To start, an American should have European descent, he needs to speak and understand English, be religious (take a look at WASPS) and engage in the actual non-consumeristic aspects of the founding fathers' culture (this is harder to change, since every celebration is just a way to sell you shit right now). What has America done as a country? For starters they created the most prosperous country out of nothing in less than 300 years, brought technological innovations to the rest of the world, so being an American means being innovative. One thing they're lacking is the artistical innovation, the US doesn't really make art or poetry or anything, and when they did it clearly wasn't enough. When you'll manage to do that, you'll stop worrying about people telling you being an American is an idea, and more being proud that America can be something else. Stagnation is death.
